Guru Purnima 2019 at Effortless Mantra
Monday, July 15
Guru Purnima is considered the most auspicious day of the Vedic calendar. On this full moon in July we pay homage to the Holy tradition, our lineage, the great Masters who gave us the wisdom of integration of life. We honor and pay respect to all Teachers who have served as Guru ("remover of darkness"). Guru Purnima also celebrates the birthday of Sri Maharishi Vyasa, one of the greatest Rishis of all time.
Festivities begin at 7:30pm. We will talk for a bit, craft our Boons!,
and enjoy a special Guru Puja lead this year by Harry Eddleman.
A 20 minute meditation will follow. Traditional Indian sweets, hibiscus iced tea, and masala chai will be served for all to enjoy after meditation. The evening culminates with a group walk outside in the moonlight.
"So come on, it's such a joy!!"
India Meditation Retreat
Delhi, Rishikesh, Varanasi
Come take a life-changing journey to India with expert Vedic Meditation Teachers Joshua Sliwa, Harry Eddleman, and Catherine Inglese.
We will gather in Delhi, take a tour of the city, get our bearings and establish context in India. Delhi tour includes the Gandhi home and museum, rickshaw ride to the old spice market, and group meditation at the Lotus Temple. We will then travel by train up to Haridwar, and then drive up into Rishikesh, a Holy city nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Rishikesh is rich with relevant history. It is the birthplace of Yoga, and home to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's world famous Ashram. Here we will delve into our meditation practice, do some Rounding, and enjoy Knowledge meetings. Day trips will take us to ancient sites where living Masters still reside today. We will enjoy evening Aarti, visit Maharishi's (Beatles) Ashram, Monkey Feet, and (time and weather permitting) take a River Rafting trip. One can do as much or as little as wanted.
The final stage of the journey will take us to Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world, home of Rudra (Shiva), one of the oldest known deities ever worshipped. Varanasi is famous for its cremation ceremonies. In this setting our attention and Knowledge meetings will center on the Immortal reality that resides within us. We will have a group Yagna (purification ceremony), an opportunity to cast something into the fire that we are ready to let go of. The journey culminates on February 21, celebrating Maha Shivaratri, an ancient festival celebrating Lord Shiva.
Tour Details will be released soon!! (specific February dates, package options and pricing, etc..)
